Weed Demon - Damage Case Single Review/Stream [2019 Electric Valley Records]
About The Band
Weed Demon are a hard hitting sludge metal four piece hailing from the thriving music scene currently enthralling the Columbus Ohio area. With two stellar releases under their belt, and a quite dedicated fan base, The band of headbangers return with a new track, Damage Case. originally a Motorhead song released in 1979, Weed Demon are the perfect band to cover such a classic song from one of the most legendary groups in heavy metal history.
Simply but, the band has got the signature Motorhead sound down pat, while still of course retaining their own unique flare that the band has developed. With guitar work from Andy chugging out the iconic riffs, and the on point drumming from Big Nick matching the rhythms to a tea, every aspect of this cover is thought out and performed with sludgy, messy precision, as it should be. Admittedly, the last minute or so of the song does begin to outstay its welcome, leading one to wonder why the song was extended in its length as much as it was, in comparison to the considerably shorter original. That being said, it does not detract from how killer the song is as a whole, not even close. And plus, there’s always props for trying to add something new in my book, especially seeing as how it could have gone way worse. In fact, I’d definitely say that this is significantly better than the Metallica cover of the same track.
As expected, Weed Demon has knocked it out of the park once again, proving that they are more than deserving of the high praise they have received. While nothing can ever replace the original masterpiece by Motorhead, this cover sure as hell does it proper justice, from four men who are more than qualified. Lemmy would bt proud. Overall, ignoring the somewhat repetitive final quarter, Damage Case is a phenomenal cover that under no circumstances should go ignored. And yes, Lemmy is god.
